Why you are seeing this page

About 5 years ago, well before social networking was popular, we embarked on a project with the aim of linking former and current students of Nhowe High School. The idea was born out of several discussions with former students in which the question “Where is {insert name here}” was always difficult to answer.

At that time, the only easiest way to track old friends was through zimupdate (remember that site) which was not always easy. It was around that time that we registered the domain name and decided to do something about it. We created a mini social networking site for former students of Nhowe High School to “link former and current students.”

We do not remember when the site went live but it was encouraging to see several people signing up in the very few weeks and it was rewarding to get e-mails from students showing appreciation for linking them with lost friends. When Facebook and other social networking sites sprang up and opened up to the rest of the world, our numbers dwindled as people moved on to a better platform. Development of new features was slow since this was a part time project. Eventually keeping the site was no longer feasible as there was not much justification to pay for the upkeep of the site when only a handful of people were logging in.

I have heard from some people that they would have preferred us to keep the project running and have a space that we truly call home. In future we might do that although with a different focus. This is the reason we decided to keep the domain name. If there is any useful information that may need to be send to former students, we will post it on this blog.
